TV One Projects

La'Chris is the PR Coordinator for TV One's Publicity Department. She coordinates events, press tours and premieres while serving as a liaison to the media, talent, publicists, agents, and TV One executives. 

 

Launched in January 2004, TV One serves 59 million households, offering a broad range of real-life and entertainment-focused original programming, classic series, movies and music designed to entertain and inform a diverse audience of adult black viewers. The network represents the best in black culture and entertainment with fan favorite shows Unsung, Uncensored, ATL Homicide, Fatal Attraction and Urban One Honors. In addition, TV One is the cable home of original blockbuster films including When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story, Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story, Bobbi Kristina and The Bobby DeBarge Story. TV One is solely owned by Urban One, Inc., formerly known as Radio One, Inc. [NASDAQ: UONE and UONEK, www.urban1.com], the largest African-American owned multi-media company primarily targeting Black and urban audiences.

Callsheets 2 Cocktails (C2C) 2019 Spring LA Networking Mixer

Callsheets 2 Cocktails (C2C) hosted their Spring Mixer for Women's History Month on March 27, 2019 from 6:30pm-9:00pm at The Parlor in West Hollywood, CA. There were approximately 50 women in the entertainment industry from various TV networks and production companies in attendance.

 

LJPR designed the organizer's website and social media posts to help maximize attendance. LJPR was also on site at the registration desk to help greet guests and check them in.

RESET Screening at the 2018 Au Contraire Film Festival in Montreal

Director/Writer Arun K. Vir's   dramatic film "Reset" about a mixed-race American teen who descends into drug addiction while struggling with her difficult childhood, was screened on October 18, 2018 at the Maxwell Cumming Auditorium at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts as part of the Au Contraire Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. Chabad Lifeline, a non-sectarian agency dedicated to helping everyone affected by addition, was the evening’s patron organization. Over 300 people attended the sold-out event.

 

LJPR handles ongoing publicity for the filmmaker which includes writing press releases, arranging interviews, attending events and making website updates.

Black History Month Panel at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center

Participated in an intimate panel discussion to share inspiring stories for students at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center (LAJCC) as part of Black History Month. The panel was held on February 28, 2018 and included 

92-year-old Doris Aarons, a resident of Los Angeles and a civil rights proponent and activist. Almost 20 students attended the event and asked questions and offered their perspectives on the challenges, opportunities and their hopes for the future.

Diversity Panel Speaker at the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival 

Participated in a panel hosted by SAG-AFTRA which highlighted the challenges and opportunities of diversity in casting. Titled "Casting Equity", the May 28th panel was part of the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival Forum Series.​

SAG-AFTRA member and local casting director Nike Imoru assembled a team of award-winning Seattle and L.A.-based filmmakers and invited the group of producers, directors and screenwriters to share their views on casting diversity, how it informs their own work, and how they view both the independent and mainstream approaches to casting.

Director Damani Baker

at 2016 LA Film Festival

On June 2016, conducted an interview with Director Damani Baker and his mother, Fannie Haughton who was the subject of the award-winning film "The House on Coco Road."

Grand Opening of the SGA Library at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center

Assisted and provided logistical support for members of the Student Government Association at the

Los Angeles Job Corps Center (LAJCC) in organizing the grand opening of the LAJCC Library in February 2016. Over 400 students attend LAJCC throughout the year and were excited to have a library on campus.  

A. Russell Andrews Attends 2015 American Black Film Festival

Award-winning actor and director A. Russell Andrews  attended the premiere of TV One's "Runaway Island" in which he had a starring role. The film premiered at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in NYC from June 11-14, 2015.

LJPR served as Mr. Andrews' publicist and brand specialist during the event by creating a promo video, social media materials, handling media queries and updating the website. Because of the film's success and popularity, Mr. Andrews' performance was considered for an Emmy nomination in 2016.

Towne Street Theatre's 2015 Ten-Minute Play Festival in Honor of Women's History Month

LJPR was the creative force behind the promotional image for Towne Street Theatre’s Ten-Minute Play Festival which was held on March 14-29, 2015. The image was used on event posters, postcards and the organization's website (which was also  designed by LJPR.)

 

LJPR was also instrumental in generating key publicity for the event by collaborating with StageWalkers and Clear Channel Media to display the image on billboards throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Due to the publicity efforts and design image, the event was a record-breaking success with over 1,000 theatregoers attending the play festival.

The Young Playwrights Workshop at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center 

Created and taught a 10-week Young Playwrights Workshop in September 2015 at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center for 10-15 students as part of the after-school programming in the Social Development Division. Students learned the art and craft of writing dialogue, action, and performance for the stage.

U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins' Poetry Reading

on Bainbridge Island, WA

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) needed assistance generating publicity and public awareness of weekend events that involved former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins' visit to Bainbridge Island, Washington, in support of the museum's capital fundraising campaign.

 

The events where held on October 19-21, 2012 and included the Poetry 180 Educators Event and a public reading and book signing for Mr. Collins' books. With the combined efforts of the Museum, the LJPR staff was able to attract nearly 1,000 visitors to all the weekend events.

2010 WSBA Leadership Institute Graduation Ceremony & Reception 

Coordinated and planned a highly successful WSBA Leadership Institute Graduation Ceremony and Reception for outgoing fellows and WLI Executive Board on August 13, 2010. Confirmed speakers, managed communication with the board, fellows and guest speakers. Liaised and confirmed food and dessert selection with Fare Start catering team, designed program, finalized agenda, secured entertainment, ordered supplies, awards and certificates, and provided on-site support before, during and after the event.

From 2008 to 2011, responsible for coordinating 50 events for the Institute which included board meetings, retreats, monthly sessions and graduations.

Q&A Interview with

WSBA Leadership Institute Alumni Featured in 2010 Edition of the Bar News

Generated story idea and questions to promote the WSBA Leadership Institute in the Bar News (now known as NW Lawyer), a publication of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) which has a monthly readership of over 38,000 lawyers and organizations across the state.

Generated questions and reached out to alumni to secure potential interviewees. Recorded and transcribed the

90-minute interview and submitted it to the Bar News editorial team for review. The article was published in the August 2010 edition.

2009 Bar Leaders Conference Planning for the Washington State Bar Association

Planned, coordinated and organized

2009 Bar Leaders Conference which attracted over 300 attorneys from across Washington state. Was main point of contact for a four-member team.

Handled the logistics and details of the meeting room facilities, tracked RSVPs, finalized conference materials, agendas, attendance rosters and name tags. Liaised and confirmed guest speakers and workshop facilitators for various breakout sessions.
