June 2, 2017 - Seattle Local members joined with film industry insiders to host a panel highlighting the challenges and opportunities of diversity in casting at a recent panel discussion. Titled "Casting Equity", the May 28 panel was part of the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival Forum Series.
SAG-AFTRA member and local casting director Nike Imoru assembled a team of award-winning Seattle and L.A.-based filmmakers and invited the group of producers, directors and screenwriters to share their views on casting diversity, how it informs their own work, and how they view both the independent and mainstream approaches to casting. An African-American, Asian-American, LGBTQ and black British filmmaker each shared their views, voices and experiences.
