Memories

Instead of a Mother's Day card, I wrote her a letter. I told her how much I loved her and how much she meant to me. The sacrifices she made were many and I wanted her to know they had not gone unnoticed. She wasn't one for crying too much or being overly sentimental, but I knew she was touched by the words. After her passing, I found the letter tucked away in her top drawer along with other letters, poems, notes and cards. she kept everything I ever wrote to her. Little did I know, this would be the last Mother's Day together.

Today, I struggle like nobody's business because this marks the day that life changed for my father and me. That morning...this morning. And as I read about upcoming summer celebrations, weddings, births and graduations, it makes me incredibly nostalgic and emotional. She was there for every success, disappointment and win I had. Pure love was deeply embedded in all of it. So, whatever celebration you have today, hold onto it for dear life. Take 100 selfies and then 100 more. Memories are forever...
